Why Great Eyewear Matters

Everyone deserves the best eyewear.

Properly fitted eyeglasses can make a world of difference, not only in how you look but also in how you feel. With the correct prescription and frame shape, you can look better, feel more confident, and be more comfortable.

Plus, the perfect pair of glasses helps you see the world and everything it has to offer. So why not take the time to find the right fit?

At Sea View Optometry, our experienced opticians can help you find the ideal eyewear for your face shape and lifestyle. Learn more about our optical approach on our Frames, Lenses, & Sunglasses page.

Insurance Providers We Accept

We accept VSP, EyeMed, Spectera, Superior Vision, and Davis Vision to help make your eye care more affordable and accessible.

Get to Know the Sea View Team

These are a few lighthearted questions and answers about our team, with answers submitted by their colleagues. Just a glimpse of what makes each of us unique and a little fun behind the scenes at Sea View Optometry.

Dr. M, Optometrist

What inspired Dr. M to become an optometrist?

A personal experience with poor vision played a big role, along with early inspiration from an ophthalmologist. That, combined with a strong educational path and the appeal of helping people see clearly, made optometry a natural fit.

The relationships built over time stand out the most. Whether it’s catching up with long-time patients or meeting someone new, there is a genuine connection in those conversations. Helping patients understand their eyes and seeing that moment when everything clicks is always rewarding.

Protecting eye health daily is key. Wearing sunglasses, avoiding rubbing the eyes, and staying consistent with regular exams all play an important role, especially since many conditions develop without obvious symptoms.

Catherine, Practice Manager

What inspires Catherine most about leading the Sea View team?

The team itself is the biggest source of inspiration. It is a group that is creative, resilient, and ready to take on challenges together. There is a strong sense of care and dedication, and she focuses on creating an environment where everyone can do their best work and feel supported in what they do.

It starts with helping patients feel comfortable and continues through to those moments of excitement when they can see clearly again. Hearing someone notice details they had been missing never gets old. Over time, it’s also about seeing trust build and relationships grow with each visit.

Time at home with family, crafting, and simple routines helps her recharge. A good night of sleep and a bit of self-care go a long way in resetting for the next day.

Angela, Front Desk

What’s Angela’s favorite part of welcoming patients to Sea View?

It starts with greeting patients by name and seeing their reaction. That first interaction sets the tone, and over time, it becomes about building relationships and familiarity. There is something especially meaningful about watching long-time patients grow and return year after year.

Remembering names and small personal details creates an immediate sense of comfort. Those simple, thoughtful touches help patients feel recognized and at ease as soon as they walk in.

A quick laugh, a funny moment with the team, or stepping outside for a bit of fresh air can reset the day. Add in a coffee or a bit of chocolate, and things are back on track.

Maria, Optical Team

If you could design Maria’s dream pair of glasses, what would they look like?

Maria’s dream pair would feature music notes and a modified aviator shape in thick, shiny gold. The frame would sit somewhere between round and oval, with bright colours and a perfect fit. It would be timeless, something that works across generations and trends, with a petite shape and a narrow bridge so the eyes feel properly centred. Finding a beautiful, well-fitting frame for smaller bridges is part of the vision, too.

Good music, joking around, and singing are always part of the mix. She keeps the energy up by making co-workers laugh, playing the occasional prank, and catching up after a long weekend. There is always some playful back-and-forth with Peter, but just as much satisfaction comes from genuinely helping a patient and keeping the team on their toes.

It’s all about that moment when a patient finds the frame, especially when it is something they would not have chosen for themselves. Maria focuses on helping people feel confident in their final decision, while being honest about what works for their prescription. Whether it is solving a tricky fit or encouraging someone to try something unexpected, the goal is always the same: finding the right frame and seeing that reaction.

Rachel, Optical Team

What’s Rachel’s “eyewear superpower”? Something she’s known for at work?

Rachel is known for doing a bit of everything and stepping in wherever she is needed. She often starts the day early, getting everything ready so the team can run smoothly. She is always willing to take on a challenge, learn something new, and help patients feel confident trying styles they might not normally consider.

There are quite a few, from a patient bringing in a card and a candle to moments where patients remember her long after their visit. A standout sale, compliments on her warm energy, and even unexpected reunions with former co-workers all make the list.

Coffee is the clear favourite, usually with three Splenda and plenty of cream. It is enjoyed hot, early, and often. Sweet tea makes an appearance, too, along with the occasional Diet Coke on the rocks.

Daisy, Optical Team

What song would play when Daisy walks into the optical?

The playlist is eclectic, ranging from Beetlejuice and The Addams Family to “With a Little Help from My Friends.” There is always room for Halloween classics, The Lion King’s ” Coconut Song, or even “Dead Man’s Party.” It is a mix that keeps things fun and a little unpredictable.

For Daisy, it is about more than just vision. It is about helping someone experience the world differently, combining clear sight with personal style through thoughtful frame and lens choices. She enjoys the connection with patients and the role technology plays in improving their day-to-day lives, especially when they come back even happier than expected.

Unwinding might look like good music, good food, and time at home with family. Sometimes it is something simple like relaxing with a show, and other times it includes an In-N-Out stop with her husband and catching a sunset. Either way, it is about slowing down and enjoying the moment.

Peter, Optical Team

How does Peter help patients find glasses that “feel like them”?

Peter takes a highly personalized approach, starting with conversation. By asking questions and really listening, he gets a sense of each person’s style, lifestyle, and personality. From there, he considers everything from face shape to how glasses fit into everyday life, helping guide patients toward something that truly feels like them.

There are a few directions he could take, from professional volleyball to writing Japanese love songs. Teaching English abroad, working in publishing, or exploring fashion design are all possibilities, especially anything that involves travel and creativity.

People are often surprised by his sense of humour and by the fact that he is fluent in Japanese. Being from Scranton, Pennsylvania (yes, like The Office), also comes up, along with just how large his family is; 8 siblings tend to do that.

Fadia, Billing & Optical

What’s the most satisfying part of her dual role?

Fadia enjoys helping patients navigate the more complicated parts of their visit, especially when it comes to understanding insurance. She thrives on problem-solving and being able to see both the clinical and administrative sides of care. There is also a creative side, like selecting new frames for the office, that keeps things interesting.

Insurance would be at the top of the list. Simplifying benefits, making coverage easier to understand, and finding better ways to explain options would make a big difference. There is even the idea of tools that let patients explore frame colours more easily before making a decision.

Comfort food covers a wide range, from chili fries and pizza to soup and artichoke dip. French fries are always a favourite, and sometimes it is as simple as a home-cooked meal or a quick snack before the kids get home.
